E Tenebris

Latin for “Out of the Darkness,” E Tenebris describes the origin of the majority of my writings.  Leading up to and following the death of my mother, I went through approximately a year and a half of what I now believe was clinical depression.

Without going into needless detail about the particulars, suffice it to say I was alive in body, dead in spirit.  Writing became my salvation.  I didn’t write well, and I will never publish the things that I wrote during those times, I don’t believe.  However, I wrote, and writing is what lead me back to caring about things.

Anything of my writing is therefore influenced on some inescapable level by this time in my life, even as it pulls me out of it.  Thus, I think it an appropriate title for the portion of this blog where I’ll be putting my various excerpts and completed pieces.
